Gorgeous Vintage #3 Barbie blonde ponytail wearing Evening Splendour #961

  

What a great gift this would make for the vintage doll collector or Baby boomer wanting to relive their childhood through the toys they had! Or it is also an excellent gift from you to you! The cream of the crop in my collection - my prize winning #3 Barbie wearing Evening Splendour. She was entered in the Orange County Fair last year in the Collections category along with my Wedding Day Barbies (She was a guest at the wedding) and I won first place! Hate to see her go - but go she must!

This #3 Ponytail Barbie is a true beauty. Her hair is impeccable - her pony tail is clean and stiff at the end as it should be. I did have her hair fixed about 20 years ago. Her hair is all original - it was just recombed.

Her bangs are curly and not missing any plugs. Her makeup is perfect - it was professionally touched up at the same time her hair was fixed.

Her face, if you look at it close up, does have a tiny tiny speck/mark near the left side of her lips. She has no green ear.

She is wearing safe earrings but will come with her original gold hoops as well as pearl earrings that go with this outfit. Her coloring is starting to fade a bit to white as many many of these dolls have. Her legs and arms have faded a bit. Her nails and toes have 100% of their polish - they were done in the touch-up. Shoe doesn't have any bites or chews.

There is a small mark on her left arm midway between her wrist and elbow. The picture makes it look worse than it actually is. Her feet have remained a bit pinker where the mules have been on her feet where the rest of her feet are starting to pale. She has a solid body, her legs are not crooked and they are the same size.

She does have about 4 teeny tiny pin pricks on her left top foot, but you can't see them when her shoes are on. She has the proper Barbie markings on her butt.

Barbie, and underneath it the Patent Pending 1958 in Roman numerals and by Mattel is on her right cheek. #115 is on her left cheek. Barbie is wearing a slim brocade dress that is in excellent condition. It has the proper YKK zipper and it opens and closes perfect.

Y There are no stains or tears or marks on this dress. She wears a matching gold and brocade coat with fur trim on the sleeves. The fur is perfect as is the inside satin blue lining.

The dress is tagged with the Barbie and it is in excellent condition as well. She wears a pearl trimmed fur headband hat - all the pearls are there and intact and the hat is in excellent shape like the rest of the outfit. She wears a pearl necklace and pearl earrings to accessorize. She carries a turquoise wide wale corduroy clutch (latch and button are intact) which has white satin lining.

Sadly the hankie that goes with this set is missing. Brown open toe mule pumps (Japan on left shoe - the high heel stiletto is a little bent) and short white tricot gloves complete her ensemble for a night out on the town. The only thing not included with this set is the handkerchief.

You will not be disappointed with the quality of this outfit and this doll. She is a true gem as is the outfit. Barbie will also come with her original black and white striped bathing suit and white sunglasses.
