We sat behind the theater with a flashlight and read our lines and inserted the dolls from the side stage doors. We had intermissions, changed sets, and my parents, the best a kid could have, sat patiently thru it all with the appropriate reactions and applause. The fun didnt stop there, I had just as much fun in the 80s playing with my daughter. She liked to use the stage for Barbie and friends to have as a venue for music concerts.
The picture with it closed shows where I taped along the bottom fold after years of play. It never came loose I just wanted to make sure it didnt so I used duck tape, and masking tape. The masking tape was deteriorating so I replaced it before I took the pictures. In the picture of it closed notice I keep it tied, not because it doesnt still have the little closure, but the opening for it may have gotten a little wider, so I keep it tied just for safe keeping, plus the handle is intact. It comes with all its original backdrops, side-stage pieces, and tickets. The bed is in very good condition, the thrown and chair not perfect but I think still in good condition. The table has 2 legs that arent great, they had started to bend so I had put masking tape on them. It probably didnt help that it was used more than the other furniture pieces because, to me, it looked like a coffee table so I played with it in my Barbie Dream house. The only other issue is with the cardboard bar that was used to raise the curtain. Throughout all the hours of play it began to weaken in a couple of places so I reinforced those areas with tape, but it still works well. In the ninth picture I placed the table next to that bar to show where they are taped. Also included is the instruction book, and book of plays which still has its cover, but has become unstapled. I never planned to sell this theater because I had hoped one day I would give it to a granddaughter, but my daughter had boys, and as for hope one day for a great-granddaughter...
Well, that just might be too long to let it sit and deteriorate... Time to let someone else enjoy it. The theater is structurally sound and is a rare find for the enthusiastic Barbie collector, or lots of life left for many hours of play.
