18 Antique Papier Mache Marked Germany Wears A Gorgeous Vintage Green

  
We have to say, this is one of the prettiest Papier Mache doll heads we have seen in a long while. We are told from our forum of expert doll wizard we consult, from time to time, that this doll was made in Germany (she is marked "Germany" on the back breastplate), between 1900 and 1930. It appears that her body may be newer. We do not think she has been repainted, although we did replace her wig, which was beginning to get sparse and was shedding hanks of hair.

(The hair had just been placed on her head, and was not an actual wig, so as the glue loosened, the lock of hair would let go, therefore, we didn't feel bad discarding it). We did match the same color of her original hair and it is about the same length, although this mohair wig is a bit more on the curly side. The white dress she was wearing did not suit her at all, so we agreed this antique green dress would be a great choice. This has a medium mossy green taffeta under slip and a Monet-inspired "watered" netting overdress of lighter green infused with dark pink into a deep purple swirls, that looks like an Impressionist's garden daydream. Underneath, she wears the thinnest of antique slips, underscores by a crinoline, and naturally, pantalettes, stockings and little Mary Jane shoes.

A huge heavily decorated straw hat is awash with hot pink, purple, and beige flowers, leaves, pearls, and a turned up edge laden with more decor. Her little head can hardly hold it up, but she looks so grand! Please pay for your doll within 24 or let us know in advance if you cannot, so we can prepare.
