#4 Vintage Barbie Blond Ponytail Lush Hair

  
#4 Vintage Barbie - Blond Ponytail - Lush Hair. This #4 was retouched by me with Liquitex acrylic paints several years ago. I followed the original faded paint on the lips, nostrils, eyelash ridge, eyebrows and cheeks.

My goal was to restore, not create something one-of-a-kind. The paint is unsealed and can be removed with alcohol if youd prefer to have her professionally restored. The ample smoky eyeshadow is original, as is the blue. Her nose and eyelash ridges are perfect with no nips or repairs. I never treated her small bit of ear hole discoloration because its so easily covered by safe earrings.

One tiny pinhole is near the right upper hairline. I find no neck damage but her head is slightly wobbly, perhaps stretched from being on the wrong body before I found her.

She retains her wonderful vintage aroma with no other odors. This Barbie's thick, silky hair is a golden blond. It appears to be 100% intact with no missing plugs and relatively little frizz for a Barbie this old. The poodle bangs are wonderfully tight and thick. Theres an almost imperceptibly darker streak of hair coming from the right temple for the entire length of the lock: for this reason, I believe its a factory flaw rather than a stain (maybe the worker switched to a new hair batch before finishing this doll).

If you look over her left ear you can see another factory anomaly where two plugs were loaded just inside her ear edge rather than behind it. I did wash and re-wrap the ponytail years ago, as well as curl the ends, and its held nicely without any applied products. Original blond scalp flocking is intact. I find no defacing marks on her body.

Theres typical minor abrasion from gentle play or storage and a 1/8 superficial nick above her right hip. Her right buttock is marked Pat.

And the solid body is very heavy with a satiny-smooth finish. There are several factory buffed areas and only faint hip marks.

I believe you can see this in close-ups of my photos. Her leg stance is excellent with a faint left ankle curve I haven't tried to correct. No missing fingers or toes, but the top of her right hand has a very slight shallow texture that appears to be original (no corresponding bite marks in her palm to indicate post-factory damage). I retouched her fingernail polish but not her toenails.

Lips and all nails are matched to the original factory color. Legs are a tiny bit darker but even. Limbs are tight and hold poses. No evidence of damage or repairs to the joints. Photos were taken in both fluorescent and LED + natural light. Sharpness was enhanced to help depict detail.

This beauty has been displayed in my collection in a closed case. I hope youll enjoy her in vintage fashions as much as I have over the past decade. My home has always been pet friendly with no smokers.

Even near-mint or minty isn't without at least a few minor aging flaws. Unless there's an error or omission in my written description.
