Rare 1960 #3 Barbie, Brunette Ponytail, Estate Find, With Wardrobe, Must See

  
Up for your consideration is this lovely 1960 number 3 Brunette Ponytail Barbie. She is fresh out of an estate and was found gently packed away in tissue with a lot of tagged Barbie clothes. She appears to be in outstanding shape, just probably in need of a gentle cleaning. As I don't quite know what to use on something of this vintage, I will leave that to the new owner to take care of. She is wearing her original black and white striped bathing suit and open toed pumps.

Her ponytail has been styled into an updo. I can see that the part where the ponytail is gathered is still intact, and I believe that if someone is familiar with Barbie hair, that they can "undo" the updo.

As you can see in the photos, all of the rooting that is visible is in good shape. She has her original Barbie stand -- a black round plastic disc with the wire support. She has the typical blue irises that the Number 3 has, with gently curved brown eyebrows, molded eyelashes and brown eyeliner. She has tiny little accent dots in her nostrils and full voluptuous lips.

She is wearing silver metal hoop earrings, with no discoloration of the pierced holes. There are no splits around her neck, and her head swivels nicely.

Her fingernail and toenail paint is in good shape and there are no. Problems with her fingers or toes.

Her right buttock is marked with the typical Barbie mark. The left buttock is marked with the number 58. Please look closely at the photos, as they are an important part of my description. She has multiple outfits with very few accessories, but I will attempt to list them here. #972 Wedding Day, consisting of.

The gown has the embroidered Barbie tag in the back skirt seam. It fastens in the back with snap closures that work fine.

It has a delicate tulle overskirt and bodice with long sleeves, with some sort of printed design and long train. Has a mock pearl "tiara" to attach it to her head. The tiara is in 2 pieces but it seems that it is all there.

#991 Registered nurse, consisting of her white cotton uniform with zipper back closure that works well. It has a metal "button" on the left side of the bodice, tiny faux pearl buttons on the packet and real pockets.

There is a nurses cap and a navy blue cape lined in red sateen that has a button and loop closure that works well. The cap has the embroidered Barbie tag.

It also includes a hot water bottle, diploma and medicine bottle. #975 Winter Holiday, consisting of white leatherette car coat and belt with the embroidered Barbie tag, striped "hoodie" with a zipper closure that works well, black knit tights with zipper in the back that works well and a plaid zipper bag with handles.

#978 Let's Dance dress in green. #977 Silken Flame consisting of her strapless low back dress with red velveteen bodice with snap closures that work well and off white (at this point) skirt with embroidered Barbie tag in the back skirt seam, wide gold belt and. Matching gold purse with a bead closure. #984 American Airlines Stewardess, consisting of a blue uniform skirt, jacket and cap.

The cap has the American Airlines metal emblem on it. The jacket has tiny blue buttons with a hidden snap closure that works well and the embroidered Barbie tag in the back of the neckline. The skirt has a snap closure that works well. There is a white nylon blouse with tiny white buttons and a hidden snap closure that works well. There is also a black vinyl shoulder bag that is in great shape and an American Airlines flight bag with zipper closure that works well and is in great shape. #919 Fashion Undergarments in blue consisting of a tricot half slip (with the embroidered Barbie tag) with a fluted flounce. This matches the fluted tricot panties. There is also an embroidered girdle and strapless bra. The bra has a few issues with its fabric and needs some repairs. The elastic in these items definitely shows its age, but it is amazing that the set still exists! #921 Floral Petticoat, consisting of a sheer embroidered "petticoat" (with embroidered Barbie tag in the back seam) with matching panties and bra. The panties and bra are pretty dingy and the elastic also shows its age. #987 Orange Blossom, consisting of a yellow sheath dress with zipper back that works well and it has the embroidered Barbie tag in the back. There is also an embroidered sheer nylon overskirt (sort of a pinafore) with a snap closure that works well. There are a couple of dark spots on the overskirt near where the skirt attaches to the bodice.

There is also a veiled yellow tulle hat. #953 Enchanted Evening, consisting of a pink satin floor length gown with snap closures in the back that work well. The skirt is gathered on the side and accented with 3 iridescent sequins and beads. There is a small hole near the hemline on the train.

This dress has the embroidered Barbie tag in the side seam of the skirt and the hemline is faced with a thin strip of tulle. There is also a pair of white elbow length gloves and a fur stole with the Barbie tag in the back.

"Pak" 2 piece pajama set that consists of a pinky-peachy color cotton top with puffy sleeves with elastic, tiny white buttons and a trim of fluted tricot along the placket. There are hidden snap closures that work well. This piece has the embroidered Barbie tag in the back of the neckline. The pajama pants have the fluted trim at the leg openings. There is also a Barbie Teen-Age Fashion Model booklet included.

It has a couple of pieces of double faced tape remnants on the back, where I suppose that it was fastened into a clothing pack. All items seem to be odor free, and as I mentioned, this was all packed away for a long time in a closet. I only get 12 photos here and have attempted to show what I can.
