RARE VINTAGE MECHANICAL SCANDINAVIAN FOLK DOLL PAIR - COMPOSITION HEADS, WOODEN BODIES & WORKING MECHANISMS - APPROX. From a beloved collector of antique and vintage dolls, this unusual and increasingly difficult-to-find matching pair of vintage folk costume dolls has been carefully preserved and displayed for many years. Standing approximately 17-18 inches tall, these dolls feature composition heads with molded hair and beautifully hand-painted facial features, including eyes, brows, lips, and rosy cheeks.

The pair is dressed in traditional folk attire and presents wonderfully as a display piece. What makes this pair especially unique is their fascinating mechanical wooden-body construction.

Both dolls feature wooden torsos housing internal movement mechanisms, along with jointed wooden arms and legs, carved wooden hands, and carved wooden clogs. The heads are mounted to the wooden body assembly and move in coordination with the mechanism. The movement mechanism has been tested and is working. A video demonstration of the female doll's mechanism in operation is included, showing the coordinated movement of the head and feet. The male doll appears to have matching construction and movement, though his clothing is sewn in place and was not removed or separately demonstrated.
