Stunning MIDNIGHT Japanese Sidepart Barbie American Girl, Pink Skin RARE vintage

  

Perhaps the ultimate American Girl Sidepart! This 1967 Japanese-market exclusive beauty has the most voluminous, thick hair and fabulous red lips! Her hair is the rarest color that was made, and I've only seen a handful of them in my decades of collecting. The fiber is the coarser, thicker variety that is even rarer on the Japanese exclusive sideparts. Thus it's so gorgeous and full looking, not flat against the sides of her head.

It's the same midnight color as the doll on the cover of Keiko Shibano's ground-breaking and fabulous coffee table book, "Barbie in Japan". Keiko's doll is drooliscicious and I've always kind of coveted her who hasn't? LOL, but this doll easily rivals her, and I've had several people tell me that she's even more striking.

That's subjective of course. But this may truly be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a museum piece like this. Her facial screening and paint are flawless. LOOK at that high-color face with her red lips and matching blush!! Even her nostril paint is perfect, and evenly matched on each side of the nose.

And her hair-ribbon is factory original! The hair looks like it's never been combed. She has the appropriate and rare pink body and markings. The fingernail polish is perfect. The toenail polish has a minimal amount missing, due in all likelihood to rubbing in the box, before i removed her in the 1990s.

She's never been displayed, and as i typically do, I've kept her stored in an air-tight and light-proof plastic box in a climate-controlled, pet-free storage facility vault. She comes with her original bathing suit.

No earring holes or green ears. No neck-splits or other damage or repairs. Note that her limbs are slightly darkened from the unavoidable aging-process of the vinyl.

They can be lightened, but it's not something that I've ever done or know how to do. I've seen it done, though, and it's quite remarkable. I prefer to keep my dolls original however. This is a purely personal decision for everyone. In any case, I think this doll is a show-stopper.
