Vintage Barbie Number 3 Ponytail Number 1 Body Possibly a Sample or a Prototype

  

If you are a true vintage Barbie collector you do NOT want to pass up this opportunity. In all of my years of collecting I have never seen a doll quite like this one! Unique and unusual makeup that has been seen just a handful of times. No one seems to be able to explain these dolls.

Perhaps this doll was part of a factory test run from the number 2 to the number 3? I suppose their story is lost to history but she is still here! She has the brown liner, of course, but she also has robin egg blue shadow and a dark underliner! Her lips are a reddish orange and she has rosy cheeks. Her hair appears to be in great condition with the most exquisite little bangs.

She has no green ear, her earring holes are dark. Aside from the face paint, what puts this gal into an even higher tier is that she is on a genuine number 1 body!

The body is nicely and evenly toned for the most part. The body has the powdery substance found on these dolls which is typical of a vintage Barbie that doesn't get handled a great deal. Arms and legs and head all move freely.

Neck knob feels nice and snug. Of course her feet have the copper tubes, both are visible. Her toe and nail paint is mostly intact, no broken toes or fingers. It was not uncommon for Mattel to use old parts to complete dolls, as some number 3 dolls can be found with a number 1 body or at least one leg, however, to find one with two number 1 legs and this uncommon face is not only uncommon she may be the only one in existence! The only blemish I was able to find on this doll is a tiny bruise-like mark behind her left ear.

On that same ear there is some factory brown paint just like the eyeliner - overspray. She also has some little "moles" on her back which I had not seen until I looked at the photos. Barbie will arrive with her original swimsuit, black number 1 mules, and sunglasses.

Both are in great condition! This doll will be the crown jewel of a collection of number 3 and early Barbie dolls. She has been in my collection for many years and has not been exposed to smoke, sunlight, or animals. All of my dolls are maintained in a smoke and pet free environment which is also climate controlled. Feel free to make an offer.

I have priced Barbie at what a number 2 doll would be valued at, however, she is obviously much more rare, so while all offers will be considered I do appreciate reasonable offers. I do not expect this doll to last!

This doll will be sent with the highest security through UPS. Local pick-up is also offered on this doll due to the high value. This doll is vintage and extremely rare and therefore very fragile and should not be subjected to a lot of moving around in cargo.
